Mary, Mary, quite contrary....there are numerous devotions, apparitions and iconic images circulating through the world over the centuries; and while these glorious visions and depictions may be diverse in their appearance, there is nothing contrary to the message that shines from each: a calling for peace, love and devotion to prayer.
The Mother of Jesus was like us: entirely human; but unlike us, so pure that she was chosen to carry the Son of God. In my Christian journey and as an artist I have felt an increased devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary - we are encouraged to pray to her for Intercession before Her Son..Whom she joined in Heaven on this day, the Solemnity of the Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary; a great day I feel to begin my Blog.
Through my art, I truly often feel 'divinely pushed' to paint on specific anniversaries - significant dates in the Christian calendar - and on this day in 2008, with many prayers I painted Our Lady's heavenly rising..which I share today as a prelude to my prayerful reflections. Hail Mary!
